January 2003 Defence Underwater CompositesADI ordered a trial Sea Tube for the sonar equipment on their FFG Upgrade Project. Whilst not a high dollar value order it is significant in so far as the very tight dimensional tolerances for both the inside and outside diameters. The job required that a special mandrel be manufactured and that the component be machined on the outside prior to demoulding. The tube is currently undergoing trials and may be the forerunner of several more. |
