Odour Containment & Toxic Cover Systems

In response to the rapidly increasing demand for corrosion resistant structures RPC has developed a complete range of fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) corrosion resistant roof enclosures suitable for storage tanks of any size and shape.

FRP lids and covers are manufactured in moulded sections from premium quality polyester and vinyl ester resins and are designed to meet each customers specific strength and serviceability requirements.

The natural corrosion resistance of FRP meets the demanding environmental conditions by resisting structural damage from chemical corrosion and thus significantly reducing maintenance and operating costs. The lightweight and versatile nature permits complex shapes at low cost whilst allowing efficient on-site handling and assembly, minimal ongoing maintenance and an expected design life in excess of 30 years.

Cover panels are moulded sections consisting of multiple layers of fibreglass and resin. Each panel is designed to meet each customer's specified structural loading requirements. Interior surfaces are coated with a resin rich finish to provide the proper corrosion resistance.

APPLICATIONS

Water Supply

Roofs over pure water supply tanks are required to prevent contamination from flying debris, insects and atmospheric pollutants, and to some extent prevent evaporation losses.

FRP lids and covers do not corrode significantly, do not encourage bacterial growth are strong, lightweight and can be made completely airtight.

The complete roof can usually be assembled on the ground or segmentally lifted into position.

The life of a FRP lid/cover in these conditions is likely to be in excess of 30 years. The only maintenance should be an annual inspection and washdown if necessary.

Sewage Treatment

Increased demand in Australia and around the world for effective odour control is seeing the inclusion of FRP lids and covers over sewage holding and treatment tanks in many municipalities around Australia.

Mild steel and aluminium are quickly attacked by sewage liquor and vapour and concrete is not readily removable for maintenance and replacement of string and scraping gear. In this situation lightweight, high strength FRP roofs are the most cost effective and complete solution.

FRP lids and covers economically and efficiently:

  • Contain odours and vapours which otherwise might be objectionable.
  • Provide thermal stability by reducing heat losses
  • Provide maximum strength at minimum weight
  • Create aesthetically pleasing installation
  • Minimise maintenance and operating costs
  • Meet demanding environmental conditions
  • Allow efficient on-site assembly
  • Resist structural damage from chemical corrosion
  • Permit use of complex shapes at low costs
  • Minimise moisture collection points by eliminating excess flanges, fasteners and weldments.

Chemical Plant

Increasing world competition has seen the successful inclusion of fibreglass reinforced plastics (FRP) lids and covers in helping improve plant efficiency and viability by significantly reducing heat loss and evaporation, contamination and ongoing corrosion and maintenance.

FRP roofing products are available for covering tanks holding a wide range of industrial chemical.

Bulk Oil and Fuel

Evaporation losses from large oil storage tanks can be largely eliminated using Duracor FRP tank lids and covers designed to float on the surface of the liquid in the tank as it rises and falls during working cycles.

FRP is strong, resistance, almost completely impervious to corrosion, maintenance free and buoyant. By its almost total evaporation control, it prevents air pollution, conserves a precious energy resource, economises crude oil and product handling, cuts corrosion and saves the tank owner from maintenance costs usually associated with roofs made from other materials.

Accessories

A range of standard accessories including circular and rectangular manholes, spigoted or flanged nozzles, sight glasses and inspection hatches can be supplied factory fitted to all FRP lids and covers to suit each particular application.
